A Special Welcome to Our New Support System!
Posted on 01/16/2019

Western Tidewater Community Services Board currently has four counselors working with students at Turlington Woods. Western Tidewater Community Services Board serves the Cities of Franklin and Suffolk and the Counties of Isle of Wight and Southampton. We are the single point of entry for access to mental health services, supports for intellectual disability, and services for a substance use disorder. CSBs advocate for people who are receiving or are in need of services. We act as community educators, organizers, and planners. We also advise local governments about behavioral health and developmental services and needs. It is our mission to provide a coordinated system of quality recovery oriented care to the citizens we serve. We continually strive to value staff, support diversity, and promote excellence in the provision of consumer care.

Intercept Services:  We currently have one counselor on staff full time offering mobile services: Intercept’s Children’s Level-B Community Home is designed to treat males and females, ages 7-12 years of age. We create a comfortable and supportive environment for our young clients to receive the treatment they need to successfully transition into a family setting. Children with psychiatric disorders relating to mood instability, conduct issues or even sexual reactive behaviors will receive weekly individual and group therapy with a licensed or licensed-eligible clinician. Family engagement will be a priority so that natural supports are maintained and placement in a family setting can be achieved. In addition, they will be provided a structured, therapeutic milieu that will include age-appropriate psycho-educational groups, mixed with fun recreation activities daily that will be catered to each client’s identified treatment goals.
